Lent 3 Sermon: Photine the Illuminated One

10/03/2026 by Rev Janet Spence

Jesus is thirsty for love to be awakened in the hearts of all people. This is true. But it is also true that Jesus is the source of the living water that can quench the thirst for love that lies deep within each one of us. So come, drink from the well of living water that is our faith, and know in your hearts that you are loved.

Nicodemus’ story

01/03/2026 by Rev Janet Spence

Dawn was breaking over the distant hills as I walked away. I looked up, and felt sure that something extraordinary was happening through the life of this man Jesus. Yes, I was confused, but at the same time I found myself walking away with hope and joy in my heart, and singing a favourite Psalm loud and clear into that new day…

I lift up my eyes to the hills—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    who made heaven and earth.

A Sermon for Lent 1

22/02/2026 by Rev Janet Spence

This season of Lent is a gift, a gift to be celebrated, a gift of a time set apart from ordinary time. May we live it fully, and honestly, and by walking through Lent in prayer with God, may we begin to discover the reality of life lived in the freedom, truthfulness, and generosity of God’s love.
